My artistic activities began a long time ago (1983/84) in The Netherlands.
I met a woman who made gobelins tapestries and this was for me the start of making woven gobelins myself.
Because the weaving looms I found for sale were not to my liking, I made one myself. On this loom I made a number of gobelins. The materials I used was white wool which I dyed myself in various colours. In the eighties I had exhibitions of these gobelins in Groningen, in the north of The Netherlands.
I received very positive reactions of the visitors of these exhibitions. Also the local paper paid attention to my artworks.
Jesus in Gethsemane.
This gobelin, size 100 x 200 cm, has been made in the beginning of the eighties of the 20th century.
Because the weaving frame I designed can only make 50 x 100 cm, I made 4 parts separately and put it together to be 1 piece of 100 x 200 cm.
This gobelin has been hanging in the church in Almere, close to Amsterdam for 25 years.
ALL TAPESTRIES WERE MADE IN THE EIGHTIES OF THE 20 th CENTURY.
